Is there scientific evidence for chakras?

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/359774235_Is_there_scientific_evidence_for_chakras

Margaret M Moga of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapol has been conducting research and analysing research on chakras and energy healing and various other interesting subjects, ‘ In this narrative review, anatomical and physiological evidence in support of chakras as scientifically detectable structures is examined. Although there have been few scientific studies of the chakras, evidence suggests that chakras may emit electromagnetic radiation and be associated with underlying nerve plexuses.’

In this review she identifies relevant research on chakras and also concludes that

‘The biofield, of which chakras are part, is based on

bioelectromagnetics and biophysical fields that play a regulatory role in cellular structure

and function (Movaffaghi and Mohammad, 2009)’, which means that chakras have a biological and chemical method and function and if this is true are part of our human biology.

Many people have experiences when they work on their chakras or meditate on them such as seeing colours or feeling energy or heat. And when she has finished the research she is doing on this topic, I will be looking forward to reading it. So, if you are interested in reading more about the research she has done as I am, then click on to her website, https://www.naturalhealingwaves.com and I will be posting about her research on my blog as well, https://sheilaannreiki.wordpress.com/blog/

As I have a degree in Psychology with health and nutrition, as part of my studes at university I undertook research in my degree subjects. Prior to that I studied sociology at A level and degree level as well and read much research on social science issues. And so I am interested in reading research articles, post graduate thesis and keeping up to date with new research in subjects I am passionate about.

Looking forward to continuing this and sharing some of what I find with you.

Treatments/training/workshops via Zoom etc

Do you like doing everything in person, or do you like having any treatments, training or workshops via zoom/skype or telephone?

Many things that are done in person can be also carried out in these alternative methods. Especially if you are not in the same area as the practitioner/teacher, you can still see them, be training or treated by them. So alternative methods are useful. Reiki can be sent to anyone anywhere in the world so a zoom treatment would be good for this if you are not in UK. If you are in UK and not near me, then you could also have guided meditation via telephone as well as via zoom. Reiki training can be done via distance, with manuals sent via post/email, and using skype as well or zoom for some of the training. Spiritual counselling, usually done in one hour or more sessions, in person or via telephone if in UK, it can also be done via zoom in 30 mins sessions, for anywhere in UK or world. If you have a 30 mins zoom session, then I recommend that you have this to talk over things, and most likely a treatment plan/training plan will be done on your next 30 mins zoom session, with ‘homework’ given prior to that.

So you can choose how you want to have your training/treatments for some things. Of course things like massages and facials, manicures or pedicures, it needs to be in person! haha, some things you can’t do via internet or telephone.

For me the quickest way to book is the old fashioned way, via telephone, but I do understand that now people like also to book via internet, so, I do have a booking page with some dates of treatments and training on it. However, if you want to specify a particular date or time, then you need to ring or email in first instance.

Having Reiki via zoom is just the same as in person, you need to fill in a consultation form prior to the session, only if you have one via zoom, then the form will be sent via email to you and returned via email. What are your zoom experiences? It was funny when someone ended up with a cat head when he didn’t mean to do it and that was shown on tv. Hopefully, any zoom events will go smoothly for you, and of course the more you practice with them, the easier it gets, like with any new IT procedures. There is so much you can do now on the internet and having meetings and training on zoom is now common place. So, I hope there is something for everyone and to suit peoples’ needs.

Massages to help reduce stress

When a person is stressed the body increases many hormones, such as cortisol and vasopressin.

Because massage has a calming effect on the autonomic nervous system, this has been found to help regulate this hormone imbalance and reduce stress.

Massage stimulate the release of endorphins such as serotonin and dopamine through stimulating the autonomic nervous system.

An increase in the levels of endorphins reduces aches /pains and increases relaxation and calmness.

Massages have a positive effect on all the body’s systems and to help sleep, relaxation and to keep stress at bay or to reduce stress and have a calming effect. A regular massage is good for overall wellbeing and health.

Massages sooth nerve endings in the skin. Head massages reduce tension in cranail muscles and help to reduce headaches.

Searching for Unicorns

I used to go to school with a lass who always said she was searching for unicorns. I think now that it is good to always try to find unicorns, dreams and things to make you smile, things to make you laugh and ways to find magic in your life and magic even in the bad times as well as the good. So I have not forgotten the girl who told me that she was looking for unicorns and whatever was happening that week at high school, she made me smile when she talked about this.

So try to find your unicorns, your wishes and dreams, things to make you smile, laugh and forget the difficulties that may be ensuing. And if you are finding it hard on your own to do this, then reach out to someone to others, to friends, or professionals like counsellors, reiki practitioners, and there is a lot of things that are helpful to lift someone up, like starting to paint, going to art classes, or simply buying some paper and paints and putting colour down onto the paper can be uplifting, or writing a journal and making lists of what you would like to do and start going through the list and if you can’t do exactly what you have on the list, then to do a similar thing to it. Going for walks and being out in nature is good for you too. Find things to enjoy every week and people to have a bit of a chat to, sounds simple but can work wonders.

Reiki for pets

If you have cats or dogs or any other animals, they do benefit from Reiki same as humans do. So if they are ill and you have studied Reiki you can do Reiki for them. Or you could send them Reiki every day/week whenever you think of it.

I am in South Yorkshire and if you want me to come and share Reiki with you, your pets or you and your pets together that is something that can be done as well. So, if you have not thought of having Reiki for you and your pet(s), then do consider it.

I have sent Reiki via distance also to cats and dogs and that is something that could be arranged if you are not anywhere near South Yorkshire.

Reiki works in exactly the same way for animals as it does humans. The last time I did Reiki for a cat, it was sat on it’s owner’s lap next to me on the settee and then jumped off the lap and went and stretched out on the back of the settee behind my head and I continued with the treatment with it lying there.

Massage Benefits

I provide several different types of massages:

Swedish massage, deep tissue, aromatherapy, Indian head massage and massages followed by Reiki or massages with Reiki at the same time.

As well as this any massage that someone has is conducted to suit them on that day as well. So there is a consulation or a few questions to ascertain which areas of the body the customer wants me to focus on and any that they would like me to leave out. All different massages have their own particular method, and type of hand movements. Swedish massage can be invigorating or relaxing or a bit of both to suit. Deep tissue massage is a deeper method of tissue manipulation and also I use my arm as well to massage. But Swedish massage can also be done in a deep manner to suit the customer’s likes or needs. Aromatherapy is a relaxing massage and is conducted to distribute the oil with the essential oils in it and to relax the customer at the same time. Indian head massage is focused on the upper part of the body including the scalp, but all types of massage could have the scalp massaged as well as the rest of the body. A lot of customers enjoy having a massage followed by more relaxation and Reiki. So they do go well together and I can also provide a massage with Reiki as well.

In all these types of massages it is important to find out what the customer wants and likes, and to check pressure is as is liked and required. And it is important that if a customer wants a deeper pressure that they feel comfortable saying so, I am here to listen to a customer’s needs and likes. Also sometimes customers don’t understand that with a massage you tend to start of with more gentle strokes before moving on to deeper strokes and manipulation. This is to warm up the muscles first.

All massages have many benefits and are not simply relaxing. They are good for all the systems of the body as well as for stress reduction and to help sleep. Below are some of the many benefits of massages.

Tip to reduce stress

Tips to help reduce stress

Step 1 Make time to connect with nature. Improve your wellbeing by getting out of the house with a daily walk or bike ride in the great outdoors. Even if it’s cold, wrap up well and enjoy as much sunshine as possible. Even 15 minutes of daylight on your hands and face will help top up your vitamin D levels.

Exercise is good for for you in many ways, helps you to sleep better, boosts endorphins, happy feelings, sunshine boosts vitamin D levels which is good for keeping colds at bay and good for immune system. Make the most of any winter sunshine.
Step 2 Ensure that you get at least 45 minutes of aerobic exercise daily, either outside, inside online or at a sports centre. Remember that there are dance classes as well as sporty activities that can make it more fun. If you can’t manage 45 mins, do what you can, a little is good for you.
Step 3 Take time out for yourself to do things you enjoy and find relaxing.
Step 4 Practice relaxation and meditation daily.
Step 5 Try and get a good nights sleep. Go to bed early if you are tired. Essential oils are good for relaxation and to help sleep, lavender, frankinscense, marjoram are some oils which help sleep.

Always book with a qualified aromatherapist for an aromatherapy massage and make sure you read up on any contra-indications and method to usage if you are using essential oils by yourself.
